New terms relating to audio files.

well, here are some terms that relate to audio files that you may not know.

i sure as heck don't know them.

STEREO
Two-channel audio split onto two separate tracks - one for the right speaker and one for the left.

CHANNEL
A path over which electrical signals can pass

TRACK
Cut: a distinct selection of music from a recording or a compact disc;"the title track of the album"
FREQUENCY
The number of times a sound vibrates per unit of time. Frequency is expressed in hertz (Hz), a unit of measurement equal to one cycle per second.

HERTZ
The unit of frequency; one hertz has a periodic interval of one second.

DECIBEL
A logarithmic unit of sound intensity; 10 times the logarithm of the ratio of the sound intensity to some reference intensity.

WAV
An audio file format. WAV files can be played in any Windows sound application (Windows 95 and later).

MP3
MP3 is an acronym for MPEG layer 3, which is a compressed audio format.

AIFF
A standard format for uncompressed PCM audio.
